Costume Construction

Dirndl skirt with ruffles attached to bottom. Waistband is interfaced and all seams
within the garment were finished with an overlock machine.
Closures for this project included a snap along the placket opening, and a T-bar for the waistband closure.
Skirt not displayed on the mannequin used for the measuring part of this project. Muslin fabric used.
Patterning project outcome - Sloper with two sleeve types.
Bodice was hand drafted through mannequin measurements, while the sleeves were created by slashing and spreading a given half scale sleeve pattern. Project requested for no closures, final was made of muslin fabric.

Draping project outcome - mid-century style dress. Bodice was drafted on mannequin and skirt is a traditional circle skit pattern. Original draping was done through a muslin mockup, then translated to a paper pattern. Both the dress and the inner bodice lining are cotton. Zipper enclosure in back. Instructed to leave hems unfinished for a further project.
Historical 18th century style panniers. Flat pattern was provided to be resized and shaped to our mannaquins measurements using half scale grid paper. Waist band is interfaced with a snap closure. Cotton twill and plastic boning were used for this project.
